基督敎聖經分舊約及新約兩大部份，舊約基本包括記載神創世，猶太人歷史，詩歌，智慧書及先知預言，新約包括記載主耶穌基督的降生，宣道，使徙言行及使徒保羅，彼得及約翰書信和啓示録，舊約共39卷書，新約共27卷書，新舊約之間隔了約400年。
