A Grain of Wheat

愛惜自己生命的,必會失掉生命;

The salvation of the Lord Jesus Christ is not just for the Jews.

It's for the Samaritans.

It's for the Greeks, it's for all mankind.

The Lord Jesus Christ came that we may have life

and have it abundantly.

If we want to have an abundant life,

we must follow the example of the Lord.

To have a humble heart and empty ourselves.

To have the spirit of sacrifice and dedication.

First, to sacrifice oneself to take righteousness,

just like what the Lord said about a grain of wheat.

It has to be put in death and buried, so it can live multiplied.

This death is to give up being led by selfish desires,

that chases after me, me, me, that life is I'm in charge.

This death is to be resurrected with the Lord for eternal life,

From then on, let the Lord Jesus Christ be the king of our hearts.

Let God reign in our lives.

Only convincingly and whole heartily let The Lord who created us,

and who gave us life in charge of our lives,

We can truly live the abundant life He has in store for us.

We all have a choice to make —

which grain of wheat do we want to be?

“Now among those who went up to worship at the feast were some Greeks.

So these came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee,

and asked him, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.” Philip went and told Andrew;

Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus. And Jesus answered them,

“The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.

Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies,

it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.

Whoever loves his life loses it,

and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

If anyone serves me, he must follow me;

and where I am, there will my servant be also.

If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.”

John 12:20-26 ESV

“You foolish person! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies.”

1 Corinthians 15:36 ESV

“but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ,

the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”

John 20:31 ESV

Hosanna

The week from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday is called Holy Week.

The Lord Jesus Christ rode into Jerusalem on a donkey.

People shouted “Hosanna”, which originally means “Save, rescue, savior”.

But at this moment it meant to praising the Lord Jesus Christ.

Quite a lot of people embraced him as king at his entrance to Jerusalem.

They were looking forward to the Lord leading the Jews

to have a holy war against the Roman Empire.

Looking forward to breaking away from the Roman Empire

 who suppressed them!

They looked forward to being rescued and being set free.

 They shouted “Hosanna, Hosanna!”

 “Save us! Save us!”

The Lord Jesus Christ did come to save the Jews,

But it’s not just the Jews.

He was here to save all in this world.

He was not riding a horse arrogantly high above to fight the battle.

Furthermore, he was God Himself who humbled himself as a man.

Not only that, but he came to bring peace

and reconciliation between man and God.

Through him who bore all our sins of defying the glory of God.

 Crucified, died, and buried,

then had victory over death and was resurrected.

 He completed the salvation.

As long as we believe him and accept the salvation,

we are saved from the sin and are set free.

Our relationship with God is reconciled and restored.

These are all because of the love and grace of Lord Jesus Christ.

“The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast

heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem.

So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him,

crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord,

 even the King of Israel!””

John 12:12-13 ESV

“because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord

and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead,

 you will be saved.”

Romans 10:9 ESV

The One and Only

 在祢面前有滿足的喜樂;

耶穌說:「我就是道路、真理、生命;

The Palm Sunday opens up the curtains

to unveil the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

As we prepare to welcome the Easter Sunday,

let us re-adjust our thoughts to

focusing solely on the Lord Jesus Christ.

May the Lord search us, and cleanse us from all our hidden sins.

May the Lord guide us to understand clearly what our priority is.

May the Lord show us the path of life.

Let us grow closer to the Lord

and be more like Him each and every day.

So that we have fullness of joy in the presence of Him.

Let us love the Lord more, and look up to him.

For he is our only key to eternal life.

“And Jesus entered the temple

and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple,

and he overturned the tables of the money-changers

and the seats of those who sold pigeons.

He said to them, “It is written,

‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’

but you make it a den of robbers.”

And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple,

 and he healed them.

But when the chief priests and the scribes saw

the wonderful things that he did,

and the children crying out in the temple,

“Hosanna to the Son of David!”

they were indignant,”

Matthew 21:12-15 ESV

“You make known to me the path of life;

 in your presence there is fullness of joy;

at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

Psalm 16:11 ESV

“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.

No one comes to the Father except through me.”

John 14:6 ESV

Welcome Him

The Sunday before the Resurrection Sunday is called Palm Sunday.

Mainly to commemorate when our Lord Jesus

rode into Jerusalem on a donkey,

the believers spread their cloaks and palm branches along the road.

They were holding the palm branches, waving and cheering,

and welcomed him like a king.

 Many churches decorate their church

 with palm branches on this Sunday;

or give them to their congregation as a reminder and remembrance.

Let us welcome the Lord Jesus Christ to reign in our lives.

Let him truly be the Lord in our hearts, and the king of our lives,

not just a whim for one day, but faithfulness each and every day.

“The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them.

They brought the donkey and the colt and put on them their cloaks,

and he sat on them. Most of the crowd spread their cloaks on the road,

and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.

And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting,

“Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes

in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”

And when he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up,

saying, “Who is this?” And the crowds said,

“This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.””

Matthew 21:6-11 ESV

“The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that

Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. So they took branches of palm trees

and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he

who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!”

And Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written,

“Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming,

sitting on a donkey’s colt!” His disciples did not understand these things at first,

but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered

that these things had been written about him and had been done to him.

The crowd that had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb

and raised him from the dead continued to bear witness.

The reason why the crowd went to meet him was that

they heard he had done this sign.”

John 12:12-18 ESV

Lent

Forty days before Easter Sunday is the so-called " Lent".

It is to commemorate the Lord Jesus Christ who fasted and

overcame the 40 days of temptations in the wilderness

 before starting his ministry.

Believers also focus on spiritual practice,

fasting, prayer, reflection and repentance during these forty days.

(This part of fasting is Okay to be based on

the temperance of personal health in food,

The main meaning is to focus on spiritual things

 rather than physical things.  )

This Lent tradition has its meaning.

 However, we have to contemplate,

and ask ourselves “Aren’t these what we should do every day?”

“Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness

to be tempted by the devil. And after fasting forty days and forty nights,

he was hungry. And the tempter came and said to him,

“If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.”

But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone,

but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him

on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him, “If you are the Son of God,

throw yourself down, for it is written,

“‘He will command his angels concerning you,’

and “‘On their hands they will bear you up,

lest you strike your foot against a stone.’”

Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God

to the test.’” Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain

and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.

And he said to him, “All these I will give you,

if you will fall down and worship me.”

Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan!

For it is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God

and him only shall you serve.’”

Then the devil left him, and behold,

angels came and were ministering to him.”

Matthew 4:1-11 ESV
