The twelve disciples of Jesus followed the Lord

up the mountains and down to the sea.

They heard the Lord’s first-hand teaching.

They saw the miracles performed by the Lord with their own eyes,

and they experienced the miracles in person.

Logically speaking, every disciple should have strong faith

and were faithful to the Lord.

However, Judas, who was in charge of the moneybag,

still followed his own very desire - greediness.

From time to time, he took the money for his own use

from the moneybag he was in charge of.

After all, he betrayed the Lord Jesus Christ because of his greed for money.

In the end, he committed suicide in shame.

It is mentioned in Ephesians that " For a greedy person is an idolater,

worshiping the things of this world."

It can be seen that when greediness entering in a person’s heart,

the heart to worship God is no longer in him.

Judas the betrayer has given us a negative example.

Therefore, Believers must be cautious and self- discipline.

Do not be greedy.

“Then one of the twelve, whose name was Judas Iscariot,

went to the chief priests and said,

“What will you give me if I deliver him over to you?”

And they paid him thirty pieces of silver.

And from that moment he sought an opportunity to betray him.”

Matthew 26:14-16 ESV

“Mary therefore took a pound of expensive ointment made from pure nard,

and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair.

The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (he who was about to betray him), said,

“Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii

 and given to the poor?”

He said this, not because he cared about the poor,

but because he was a thief,

and having charge of the moneybag

he used to help himself to what was put into it.”

John 12:3-6 ESV

“You can be sure that no immoral, impure, or greedy person

will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and of God.

For a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.”

Ephesians 5:5 NLT

“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other,

or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”

Matthew 6:24 ESV

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.

Put on the whole armor of God,

that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.”

Ephesians 6:10-11 ESV
