我們愛人，因為神先愛我們，我們愛神更是因為祂先愛我們，神對世人的愛在耶穌基督的救恩裡已完成，也完全了，不是因為我們愛神而能再增添神對我們的愛，我們愛神是為了更加認識祂，並且與祂的關係更親蜜，使我們的屬靈生命更成熟，更明白神對我們生命的計畫與旨意，而能活出祂創造我們的本意。
「親愛的 弟兄 啊，我們應當彼此相愛，因為愛是從神來的。凡有愛心的，都是由神而生，並且認識神。 沒有愛心的，就不認識神，因為神就是愛。 神差祂獨生子到世間來，使我們藉着他得生，神愛我們的心在此就顯明了。 不是我們愛神，乃是神愛我們，差祂的兒子為我們的罪作了挽回祭，這就是愛了。」

We love people because God loved us first. And even more, we love God because He loved us first. God’s love for the world is completed and perfected in the salvation of Jesus Christ. It is not because we love God that we can make God love us more. We love God to know Him better, and to have a more intimate relationship with Him. It is to make our spiritual life more mature, and to understand God’s plan and will for our lives. Therefore we can live out the original intention He created us for.
“Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.” 1 John 4:7-10 NLT
