Golden Rule
The famous golden rule comes from the New Testament:
"Do to others as you would like them to do to you." (See Luke 6:31, Matthew 7:12)
There is also one opposite to the golden rule in Proverbs 17:13.
"If anyone returns evil for good, evil will not depart from his house.”
A person who repays evil for good is evil and ignorant,
so he cannot experience and understand
what it means good and what it means true love.
The starting point of such a person is selfishness and self-centered.
Therefore, the practice in his household is to reciprocate others by injustices, thinking that it is good for themselves ,
but in the end they bring evil and corruption upon themselves.
There is an example written in Chapter 25 of the Book of first Samuel.
Nabal was a typical foolish man who has no gratitude and retaliates good by evil.
The Lord struck Nabal and he died.
Nabal brought such consequence to himself due to his evil act.
Pray that God creates in us a clean heart.
Let us be kind to each other, and do no evil to no one.
“Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do
what is honorable in the sight of all.”
Romans 12:17 ESV
“Seek good, and not evil, that you may live; and so the Lord,
the God of hosts, will be with you, as you have said.”
Amos 5:14 ESV
“Owe no one anything, except to love each other,
for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.”
Romans 13:8 ESV
“Love does no wrong to a neighbor;
therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.”
Romans 13:10 ESV
