If we are experiencing suffering, let us take advantage of this opportunity to enhance our spiritual growth. Because, if we lean on God and acknowledge our weaknesses, God will give us strength, self control, and peace. The closer we are to Him, the stronger our faith will be, and our strength will increase. If we don't blame God nor others when suffering comes, then the relationship between us and those who are experiencing such distress with us will become closer. Grasping the opportunity of experiencing suffering and growing from it can also cultivate our compassion and empathy for others, so that we can comfort, accompany, and encourage those who are experiencing suffering.

“Look upon my suffering and rescue me, for I have not forgotten your instructions.”
Psalms 119:153 NLT

“Lord, remember what has happened to us. See how we have been disgraced!”
Lamentations 5:1 NLT

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”
2 Timothy 1:7 NLT

“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.” James 1:2-4 NLT

To be truly satisfied, the human spirit must return to God. Because the emptiness in the depths of the soul can only be filled by God. Therefore we are no longer empty, and we no longer thirst.

“not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord.”
(Amos 8:11b ESV)

“Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.”(John 6:35 ESV)

“I bless the Lord who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure.”(Psalm 16:7-9 ESV)

Someone questioned me and asked, "Have you also never seen Jesus?" I answered “No, I have never seen Him. But, although I have never seen Him, I have experienced His presence.” The New Testament of the Bible records the deeds of Jesus. It is written and recorded by those who have seen Jesus and have been with Him. Jesus is a real person in history. Our God is a triune God. Three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. No one has ever seen God the Father. So, God the Son (the Lord Jesus) became flesh to reveal God to the human race. He was was the incarnation of God and God himself came to the world as a man.

I haven't seen Jesus, but I have experienced Jesus. And, some day I will see Him again. The Old Testament was the era in which the promised Messiah was to come. People were looking forward to the coming of the Messiah. In the New Testament era, the Messiah (the Lord Jesus Christ) did come. We are now in the era after the Messiah has come. The Lord Jesus Christ has returned to heaven, but He has promised us that he will come back again.

When we read the New Testament, we should see that when Jesus left the world, He said that the Comforter (the Holy Spirit) would indwell those who believe in His name and accept His salvation. Our current era is an era of faith. We can only choose to believe or not, and then we can experience the presence of God. If we don’t understand, we just ask God for wisdom. However before we ask, we must humble ourselves, believing that He is God. Believing that the mystery belongs to God, and we are not accountable for it. Because of the limitation and finiteness of our minds, we cannot understand everything and there is no need to understand everything. The Holy Spirit will enlighten us about the things that should be known. But, when we are arrogant, or think of ourselves as being smart, or when we think we are self-righteous before God, then we will not understand.

So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son. John testified about him when he shouted to the crowds, “This is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘Someone is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.’” From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another. For the law was given through Moses, but God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us. (John 1:14-18 NLT)

And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. (Hebrews 11:6 NLT)

“The Lord our God has secrets known to no one. We are not accountable for them, but we and our children are accountable forever for all that he has revealed to us, so that we may obey all the terms of these instructions.(Deuteronomy 29:29 NLT)

Today’s sharing is the following scripture. Some people are confused by heresy, but this scripture makes it very clear that anyone who denies Jesus as the Christ (the Messiah, the Savior) is a lier. So, obviously a lie is not the truth.

“So I am writing to you not because you don’t know the truth but because you know the difference between truth and lies. And who is a liar? Anyone who says that Jesus is not the Christ. Anyone who denies the Father and the Son is an antichrist. Anyone who denies the Son doesn’t have the Father, either. But anyone who acknowledges the Son has the Father also. So you must remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning. If you do, you will remain in fellowship with the Son and with the Father. And in this fellowship we enjoy the eternal life he promised us. I am writing these things to warn you about those who want to lead you astray. But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.”1 John 2:21-27 NLT

Some people habitually use negative and critical words. It is an attitude often out of arrogance, complacency, ignorance, provocation, and contempt of everything. This habit does not help people, and even hinders their spiritual growth. Therefore, brothers and sisters in the Lord, let us examine ourselves to see if there is such a habit in us. Let us endeavor to be set apart from this. Let us obey the teachings of the Bible, to speak and act in the truth of God, just as it says in Proverbs 8:7 NLT “for I speak the truth and detest every kind of deception.”

“Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 NLT

“Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth.” John 17:17 NLT

“All who fear the Lord will hate evil. Therefore, I hate pride and arrogance, corruption and perverse speech.” Proverbs 8:13 NLT

““Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven.”Luke 6:37 NLT

Certain things happen in our lives that cannot be avoided or controlled at that moment. But as long as we learn to gain wisdom from them, although we cannot go back to the past, we can move forward in a better way. If we were the one who made mistakes, we will inevitably blame ourselves. This is good. It helps us to reflect on ourselves, but we shouldn’t let the past mistakes make us feel guilty or keep us from living out the abundant life that God intends for us. When we do fail, let’s all seek God’s forgiveness and move on.

“People who accept discipline are on the pathway to life, but those who ignore correction will go astray.” Proverbs 10:17 NLT

“For their command is a lamp and their instruction a light; their corrective discipline is the way to life.” Proverbs 6:23 NLT

“If you reject discipline, you only harm yourself; but if you listen to correction, you grow in understanding.” Proverbs 15:32 NLT

“Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. Our actions will show that we belong to the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before God. Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings, and he knows everything. Dear friends, if we don’t feel guilty, we can come to God with bold confidence. And we will receive from him whatever we ask because we obey him and do the things that please him. And this is his commandment: We must believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he commanded us.” 1 John 3:18-23 NLT

Gary Thomas points out in his book “Sacred Marriage ”that the ultimate goal of marriage is not to make us happy but holy, and to glorify God. This is worth pondering.

“ I am my lover’s, and my lover is mine. He browses among the lilies.”
Song of Songs 6:3 NLT

“Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm. For love is as strong as death, its jealousy as enduring as the grave. Love flashes like fire, the brightest kind of flame. Many waters cannot quench love, nor can rivers drown it. If a man tried to buy love with all his wealth, his offer would be utterly scorned.”
Song of Songs 8:6-7 NLT

“Give honor to marriage, and remain faithful to one another in marriage. God will surely judge people who are immoral and those who commit adultery.”
Hebrews 13:4 NLT

“Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires. Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.”
Romans 6:12-14 NLT

I watched a movie called "Papa" . It is about a child who was abandoned by his father during the Great Depression in the United States. He grew up in an orphanage and later became a journalist . By chance, Ernest Hemingway became a close friend and like a father to him. The most profound thing that he remembered is what his father had said to him when he was four years old. His father abandoned him outside of a store and said, "You wait here, I will be back ." This scene was very uncomfortable and sad. What a poor child! Fortunately, I didn’t have such a father. My father in the world had never forsaken me. My God, my Heavenly Father, He also will not forsake me. This is His promise.

「It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”」Deuteronomy 31:8 ESV

「For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me in.」Psalm 27:10 ESV

「“Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you.」Isaiah 49:15 ESV

「Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation.」Psalm 68:5 ESV

「As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.」Psalm 103:13 ESV

Some believers often ask what they should do to show that they are glorifying God and benefitting others. In fact, the spiritual life of a believer is not deliberately “doing” or “showing” , but to live out God's will, obeying God's Word, and obeying God's guidance. As for the salvation, the Lord Jesus Christ has sacrificed his life for us, which we have no way of repaying. We can only respond with gratitude and love. And if we don’t turn our backs, but obey what God’s Word has been teaching us, then we will naturally live a life of honoring and glorifying God and benefiting others.

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ESV

“What shall I render to the Lord for all his benefits to me? I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord,” Psalm 116:12-13 ESV

“The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me; to one who orders his way rightly I will show the salvation of God!”” Psalm 50:23 ESV

「For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.」Galatians 1:10 ESV
