聖經記載了許多人物，有些人是我們的正面榜樣，也有的人是我們當引以為鑒的負面例子。今天要分享的負面例子是約伯的妻子。當約伯幾乎失去一切時，約伯的妻子沒有給他支持與安慰，也沒有向神呼求，反而讓自己受困境影響，而心中充滿苦毒，向約伯說出最糟糕的建議：「他的妻子對他說：「你仍然持守你的純正嗎？你背棄上帝，死了吧！」 約伯 卻對她說：「你說話，正如愚頑的婦人。唉！難道我們從上帝手裏得福，不也受禍嗎？」在這一切的事上， 約伯 並沒有以口犯罪。」（約伯記 2:9-10 ）

約伯的妻子所說的話成了撒旦的代言人，奧古斯丁也稱她為「魔鬼的幫手」，因為這正是撒旦的目的要約伯背棄神。然而，約伯並沒有背棄神，即使身心受創，他仍然持守他的純正，以及對神的忠誠。

約伯與他的妻子恰巧一個是正面的榜樣，一個是負面的範例，面對痛苦，約伯的妻子做出與約伯相反的回應，如果是我們會怎麼樣回應呢？我們會像約伯嗎？或者是像他的妻子呢？

「然而祂知道我所走的路； 祂試煉我，我就如純金。 我的腳緊跟祂的步伐； 我謹守祂的道，並不偏離。 祂嘴唇的命令，我未曾背棄； 我看重祂口中的言語，過於我需用的飲食 。」約伯記 23:10-12

「只要我的生命尚在我裏面， 上帝所賜的氣息仍在我鼻孔內， 我的唇絕不說不義， 我的舌也不說詭詐。 我斷不以你們為義； 我至死不放棄自己的純正！ 我持定我的義，並不放鬆； 在世的日子，我的心不責備我。」約伯記 27:3-6

「於是提幔人以利法、書亞人比勒達、拿瑪人瑣法遵照耶和華所吩咐的去做，耶和華就悅納 約伯 。 約伯為他的朋友祈禱。耶和華就使約伯從苦境中轉回，並且耶和華賜給他的比他從前所有的加倍。」約伯記 42:9-10

There are many people recorded in the Bible. Some are our positive role models, and some are our negative examples. The negative example I'm going to share today is Job's wife. When Job almost lost everything, Job's wife did not give him support and comfort, nor did she cry out to God for deliverance. Instead, she let herself be affected by the tribulations , and her heart was full of bitterness. She gave Job the worst advice: “His wife said to him, “Are you still trying to maintain your integrity? Curse God and die.” But Job replied, “You talk like a foolish woman. Should we accept only good things from the hand of God and never anything bad?” So in all this, Job said nothing wrong.”（Job 2:9-10 NLT）

What Job's wife said to him had made her became Satan's spokesperson. Augustine also called her "the devil's helper" , because this was Satan's purpose to make Job to turn away from God. However, Job did not forsake God. Even though he was suffering both physically and mentally, he still maintained his integrity and loyalty to God.

Job and his wife happened to be a positive example and the other a negative example. In the face of suffering, Job's wife responded in the opposite way than Job. How would we respond? Will we be like Job or his wife?

““But he knows where I am going. And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold. For I have stayed on God’s paths; I have followed his ways and not turned aside. I have not departed from his commands, but have treasured his words more than daily food.”Job 23:10-12 NLT

“As long as I live, while I have breath from God, my lips will speak no evil, and my tongue will speak no lies. I will never concede that you are right; I will defend my integrity until I die. I will maintain my innocence without wavering. My conscience is clear for as long as I live.”

Job 27:3-6 NLT

“So Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite did as the Lord commanded them, and the Lord accepted Job’s prayer. When Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes. In fact, the Lord gave him twice as much as before!”Job 42:9-10 NLT
