將臨期/Advent
聖誕節之前四周被稱為將臨期或降臨期。將臨期是等待和預備的時刻。將臨期意味著來臨。是誰的來臨呢？將臨期是預備好來慶祝彌賽亞的來到，並且也宣告期待萬王之王，萬主之主就是我們的主耶穌基督的再來。在這四個主日，通常有些教會會預備點蠟燭典禮，每個主日點燃一支蠟燭，表示真光來到這黑暗世界，帶來了這四支蠟燭代表的意義即盼望，平安，愛，與喜樂，但總共有五支蠟燭，正中間那支代表基督，這將在聖誕夜被點燃。
「因有一嬰孩為我們而生； 有一子賜給我們。 政權必擔在他的肩頭上； 他名稱為「奇妙策士、全能的神、永在的父、和平的君」。」- 以賽亞書 9:6

Four weeks before Christmas is called Advent. Advent is a time of waiting and preparation. Advent means coming. Who is coming? Advent is a time to get ready to celebrate the arrival of the Messiah, and it also proclaims and anticipates the return of the King of Kings, and Lord of lords who is Jesus Christ. Usually some church will prepare a candle-lighting ceremony on these four Sundays. They light a candle every Sunday which means that the true light has come into this dark world. The four candles represent hope, peace, love, and joy, and the light of Christ in this world. There are five candles in total. The one in the center represents Christ himself, which will be lit on Christmas Eve.
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” - Isaiah 9:6 ESV
